Hvala lepa Slovenija... Adijo :) (Aurélie, France)

.
There it is. I’ve spent nearly three full seasons away from my home country -away from what I usually know and take for granted. Learning every day about life, relationships, living in a 'community', understanding how my body works and working with and caring for the soil and countless organisms (fauna: micro and macro; and fruits and vegetables). All in all, it has been an incredible journey.

Writing posts usually comes naturally to me, which explains why I’ve written two or three each month -I just love it 😋. Sharing, putting memories into words and capturing what we did so I can look back and relive those moments later brings me so much joy. I don’t keep a diary -I’m not great at sitting down and writing on paper about what has happened. But digitally? It’s so much easier. You start with notes, random thoughts and pictures, and the text just grows and grows until, before you know it, you’re adding the final point without realizing you’ve written way too much 😇.
Yet, writing this closing chapter wasn't as simple as the others
Anyway, I should stop blabla-ing, that's not the topic here.

So yeah, it's been 9 months. Wow... I feel like I’ve grown so much during this time and learned so much about, well, everything. I feel like I can achieve almost anything now if I set goals and truly commit on them 🐾. Of course, challenges will always be there, but honestly, I’ve realized we often expect barriers to block or slow us down. Sometimes, though, it’s not as hard as we make it out to be -we’re just the ones overcomplicating it. At least, that’s how I am (was?) and spending time with some amazing people here made me see things differently. So, Thank You 🫶🏼

I will definitely miss this view...

I can’t thank enough the people I spent these  months with (whether physically or online 💕). Each of them had something to share with me -whether it was good or bad- and it helped me realize that life is never a straight line. Unexpected or not, curves will appear and you learn from them. Everyone is different, with their own backgrounds and ways of dealing with things. Spending this time in another country also made me aware of the many cultural differences, which only reinforced how important it is to keep an open mind. In the end, it’s our unique cultures that allow us to learn so much from one another in countless ways. But once again, I’m rambling...

So a BIG thank you to the multiple persons I had the chance to spend time with: The Turinek Family (I wish you all the best, thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity to learn in an environment so different from what I know); The Gaube Family (Cvetka, Vili, Tamara, Aleksander, Nasko & Miloš: you made my living experience here unforgettable, the BBQs and night talks will always be missed), Evelyn (you’re such a strong woman and truly the best, wishing you all the happiness you deserve!), Ana (thank you for always being there, wishing you all the best -I already miss your mini donkeys!) and of course, the volunteers with whom I shared every good moments of this journey: 🫶🏼 Cristina, Julia, and Helenka 🫶🏼. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🩵. It was magical... I don’t even know what to say. More Adventure, more Energy, more Power, right?! ✨

It’s time to look forward to a new adventure and a new goal to define! I know that after volunteering on an organic farm for a while, it will be difficult and somewhat painful to let go of the good habits I’ve gotten used to 😶‍🌫️. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds, having breakfast with Cristina & Helenka, feeling my body move throughout the day (sometimes painful, I’ll admit), eating mostly organic products (I’ll miss your apples so much, especially Natura 😞) and living a 'simple' life, away from the fast pace of the (big) cities. I’m not sure where I stand or what I want just yet, but one thing is certain: I’m not suited for the chaos of urban life... Which is why I feel like my 'organic farming adventure' isn’t finished yet! Maybe next year will bring a months-long trip to Ireland and the UK, who knows... 🧭
Ok... I don't know how to close this post so I'll make it short *cough cough*:
Adijo everyone! Now it’s time to start a new chapter...
...and fill the blank pages with new adventures 🚀✨

Thanks girls, wishing you nothing but the best!!

Veliko van hvala, vsem i ka
ždemu iz vas.

Čauky!

Hey! Time flies… This would be my last post :)
I'm surprised on how fast the time can teach, move and desapear. I arrived here in February and it looks like it was yesterday. New people, new skills, tons of learning experiences, so much to see and appreciate, every inch of me feeling a deep gratitude to whoever is moving the threads of life and leading me to places like this one.

Like a baby on a womb, we spent 9 months here nourishing, giving and receiving, feeling and moving. There's the energy of a powerful seed growing inside of me after everything I've experienced during these months, ups and downs, discussions and laughs, left, right and spiral convos, everything will always stay with me.
There's a maelstorm within me threatening to make me cry while writting this cause I'm  feeling full of life, my feet knowing there's a world of possibilities ahead of all of us to be walked.
I've learnt that names matter and they should be respected and cherished, so here they are, the names of the people that wanting it or not, taught me something I'll carry in my gigantic tool-backpack…

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Maja and Matjaz, for the grounded passion and the willing to teach. Cvetka and Vili, Alex and Tamara, for being always predisposed and caring. Evelyn, for your understanding and peacefullness. Nasko and Milos, for the stuborness and amazing meals. Ana, for your comprehension and willing to hear. Aurélie, Cristina and Helenka for your infinite love, patience and adaptability, you'll be forever in my heart. And even thank you Pierre, Marko, Guillem and Alex. There was something to learn from all of you.
I don't know which way I'll be guided this time, which land it's waiting for me to come, but I do know one thing… There's a piece of me that will always be here walking around Jarenina's golden forest :)
Adijo!

Grandma’s skills: leveled up! (Aurélie, France)

The last month of volunteering is already halfway through… so today, I decided to share my personal project with you. At first, I thought I could create something *grandiose* like a blanket or a cardigan, but I quickly realized that crocheting isn’t as easy as it seems -especially when it comes to making clothes (and starting from scratch)... You realize something's wrong only after hours and hours of work... 😅
So, here I am, sharing my final 'babies' (2 tank tops and a short -I love summer, okay)!
Picture
I have so much ideas in mind for future crochet projects but, everything will be done all in good time...!
But let’s rewind a bit first: I’ve always been interested in manual hobbies but I could never find the time to learn. So, when Maja mentioned that she was crocheting, I jumped on the occasion -I had long wanted to create things with my own hands! After a short introduction at the end of March, I started looking and exploring through different tutorials and videos, trying to figure out what I wanted and mamma the options are endless! You have to think about what you want because the final product can vary so much depending on the knot you choose! 😍 And that’s the magic of crocheting! ✨ You can like a particular knot and use it to create almost anything you want hihi!
Picture
So yeah, over these 9 months, I’ve learned and crocheted a lot, doing my best with the yarn (and skill level) I had! 😓 I definitely want to keep crocheting in the days, weeks, and years to come. I’ve got the materials, the yarn, and the doigté now 💪🏼.
My next goal? Who knows… maybe that cardigan I’ve been eyeing for weeks now… 👀 Or a beanie, since winter is already racing towards us, just around the corner 🥶
Se vidimo... Soon enough :)

My personal project! (Julia, Argentina/Spain)

Hey! How's it going?
Today I want to talk about my "Personal Project"... But what is it? As an ESC Volunteer you get the opportunity to develop some skill/idea/project/etc. during the time you're volunteering. The idea is that whatever you choose to do needs to be from your heart, something that motivates you or that you always wanted to do and you were'nt capable before.
In my case, I was very hesitant about the personal project, putting so much preassure on my shoulders, I didn't know what to do UNTIL the Mid-Term Evaluation. During the week with my mentors/facilitators I've heard about an ONG called "Slovene Philantrophy" which works with migrants and refugees, most of the people that work there are also volunteers.
If you'd like to visit, contact or just get more info about them here I let you the link to their official page!
Slovenska filantropija – Združenje za promocijo prostovoljstva

So I decided to plan a workshop for the people there. The main idea was to make a movement workshop, something between dancing and recognising our own bodies in a context of playfullness, keeping in mind that as people in this society the main way to treat our bodies is through the survival mode, just do what you need to do to adapt and continue producing, but never giving ourselves a place to play and connect healthier with our bodies... That's basically what I designed as a Personal Project, a space to experience and enjoy ourselves without judgement...

(I wrote everything down, in case I want to share it with others!)
