Anyway, I should stop blabla-ing, that's not the topic here.
So a BIG thank you to the multiple persons I had the chance to spend time with: The Turinek Family (I wish you all the best, thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity to learn in an environment so different from what I know); The Gaube Family (Cvetka, Vili, Tamara, Aleksander, Nasko & Miloš: you made my living experience here unforgettable, the BBQs and night talks will always be missed), Evelyn (you’re such a strong woman and truly the best, wishing you all the happiness you deserve!), Ana (thank you for always being there, wishing you all the best -I already miss your mini donkeys!) and of course, the volunteers with whom I shared every good moments of this journey: 🫶🏼 Cristina, Julia, and Helenka 🫶🏼. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🩵. It was magical... I don’t even know what to say. More Adventure, more Energy, more Power, right?! ✨ It’s time to look forward to a new adventure and a new goal to define! I know that after volunteering on an organic farm for a while, it will be difficult and somewhat painful to let go of the good habits I’ve gotten used to 😶🌫️. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds, having breakfast with Cristina & Helenka, feeling my body move throughout the day (sometimes painful, I’ll admit), eating mostly organic products (I’ll miss your apples so much, especially Natura 😞) and living a 'simple' life, away from the fast pace of the (big) cities. I’m not sure where I stand or what I want just yet, but one thing is certain: I’m not suited for the chaos of urban life... Which is why I feel like my 'organic farming adventure' isn’t finished yet! Maybe next year will bring a months-long trip to Ireland and the UK, who knows... 🧭 Ok... I don't know how to close this post so I'll make it short *cough cough*: Adijo everyone! Now it’s time to start a new chapter...
...and fill the blank pages with new adventures 🚀✨

Veliko van hvala, vsem i každemu iz vas. Čauky!
The last month of volunteering is already halfway through… so today, I decided to share my personal project with you. At first, I thought I could create something *grandiose* like a blanket or a cardigan, but I quickly realized that crocheting isn’t as easy as it seems -especially when it comes to making clothes (and starting from scratch)... You realize something's wrong only after hours and hours of work... 😅 So, here I am, sharing my final 'babies' (2 tank tops and a short -I love summer, okay)! I have so much ideas in mind for future crochet projects but, everything will be done all in good time...!
So yeah, over these 9 months, I’ve learned and crocheted a lot, doing my best with the yarn (and skill level) I had! 😓 I definitely want to keep crocheting in the days, weeks, and years to come. I’ve got the materials, the yarn, and the doigté now 💪🏼. My next goal? Who knows… maybe that cardigan I’ve been eyeing for weeks now… 👀 Or a beanie, since winter is already racing towards us, just around the corner 🥶 Se vidimo... Soon enough :)
Hey! How's it going? Today I want to talk about my "Personal Project"... But what is it? As an ESC Volunteer you get the opportunity to develop some skill/idea/project/etc. during the time you're volunteering. The idea is that whatever you choose to do needs to be from your heart, something that motivates you or that you always wanted to do and you were'nt capable before. In my case, I was very hesitant about the personal project, putting so much preassure on my shoulders, I didn't know what to do UNTIL the Mid-Term Evaluation. During the week with my mentors/facilitators I've heard about an ONG called "Slovene Philantrophy" which works with migrants and refugees, most of the people that work there are also volunteers. If you'd like to visit, contact or just get more info about them here I let you the link to their official page! Slovenska filantropija – Združenje za promocijo prostovoljstva So I decided to plan a workshop for the people there. The main idea was to make a movement workshop, something between dancing and recognising our own bodies in a context of playfullness, keeping in mind that as people in this society the main way to treat our bodies is through the survival mode, just do what you need to do to adapt and continue producing, but never giving ourselves a place to play and connect healthier with our bodies... That's basically what I designed as a Personal Project, a space to experience and enjoy ourselves without judgement...
There, with my friend, we spent a couple of days in Wales. Hiking, scrambling along a ridge, passing under a waterfall... It was expectionnal and absolutely thrilling to try these new experiences (apart from hiking of course 😇)! The scenery was breathtaking, the colours -so vivid (expecially when the sun decides to make an appearance 🫠). I had been warned about one thing, though, and it definitely happened: the wind was insane! At one point, it almost knocked me off the mountain/ridge! 🌬️
Autumn is one of my most favourite parts of the year..well, I am not that sure when I write it. I love the change in nature, that every day is different - they are never the same. That is amazing. But autumn has something special and it is the smell of the forest. There is nothing alike. And the colours! And the sound of the falling leaves. And the colours! And the light softly appears between the trees. And the colours! Oh wow, I don't want to blink so I don't lose any mili-second beauty. Nature is very generous. In every part of the year we can appreciate different gifts..and in autumn it is, as one of many, the mushrooms! Dober dan! It's amazing how life can change in the blink of an eye. Not many months ago I was sitting in my room back in Argentina wondering which lessons would have the Universe for me this time. Before coming I asked the Universe for clarity and learning situations and (luckly) it granted me both in huge amounts. Now it's time to slowdown and wonder, to give myself time to process what we harvested ((LOTS of different apples)). This month was about harvesting what was planted and life got smoother, the high season is over and the warm weather is far gone, leadding to the beautiful colours and smells of Autumn (I must confess is one of my favourite seasons). I can proudly affirm from now and forever that here I reassured my ablity to adapt and flow even in the most caothic situations, there's an enormous resilience within me that I rediscover surfing Oktober vibes. "Na zdravje" to the insights and changes we are facing... Vidimo se! Yesterday was 'Apple Day' at the farm! :) Every October, the farm opens up to local entusiasts, and the main event is... Apples! People can see the different crops on the farm and how it has evolved since their last visit. BUT, in the end, it's all about the tastings of the various apple varieties grown here (Natura for the win!!). 🤤 And there is also a local tradition: each of us bakes a recipe from our own country, apples-based of course!
As for me, I made a Flognarde aux Pommes (not really from my region but but we’re more into chestnut cakes than apple ones, oopsi 😅). It's basically a pie with a LOT of caramelized apples and plenty of butter! It was the first time trying this recipe and it turned out pretty good! I also made a compote to have kind of a 'side option' or for anyone with food specificities. All and all, I think I used nearly 4kg of apples to make both and it was totally worth it!! 🤤 Bon appétit!! |
